OPTIMIZED TRAINING FOR SENIORS

From data point to better score

Five steps, three years of practice, one method. How to measure, analyze personal data points, and build a training system. Proven in practice, data-driven, and honest without commercial interests.

SENIOR GOLF — THE MAGAZINE FOR SENIOR GOLFERS · JUNE 2026 EDITION
PRAXIS-HUBS

Two tools, three years of practice, complete instructions

Garmin R10 for the range, Bebrassie for the course — my two most important measuring tools in detail.

PRAXIS-HUB · LAUNCH MONITOR

Garmin R10 for Senior Golfers

First, I bought the Garmin R10 and was overwhelmed by the amount of measurement data. I was annoyed that the readings in the American point/comma system were difficult to convert and I only looked at the total distance. Until my coach realized: „You're coming from the outside.” And indeed, the Garmin R10 confirmed this statement. That was the moment when I wanted to know more. Today I can automatically identify topped shots, recognize trends, and build training around them.

PRAXIS-HUB · LOCATION TRACKING

Brassies for Senior Golfers

Bebrassie offers an incredible amount. The iPhone app in conjunction with the Apple Watch and the editor, statistics, and simulation functional areas provide real added value. The price-performance ratio is unbeatable. The entire range of functions is perfectly geared towards course tracking. However, my goal was to merge the results from the driving range (Garmin R10) with the results from course tracking (bebrassie) in order to plan further training based on them.

THE METHOD

Pre/Post-Tests, sigma tracking, honest evaluation against baseline values.
05

THE AUTHOR

Why I'm writing this magazine

I am Mathias, 68 years old, with a current HCP of 31.0 and a clear goal of reaching 25.0. I've been playing in Senior Golf mode for three years, since retiring – when else? – and during this time, I've measured every shot. As a former marathon runner for HSV (2:26h – Berlin 1981), I'm accustomed to training effectively based on key performance indicators. So, I measure: on the range with Garmin R10, on the course with the Bebrassie app, and in drill sessions with pencil and logbook.
From over 5,000 personal data points, I am learning what truly makes me a better senior golfer. I search for research and studies internationally and analyze them – after all, one has nothing else to do :-) Which tee choice saves 4 strokes. Why wedges are worth 30–80 meters more than Driver-SuperSpeed. When the hybrid beats the 4-iron.

This magazine is my working binder—data-driven, honest, without marketing filters. Written by a senior golfer for senior golfers.
