Be a Pro for Senior Golfers — Course Tracking via Smartphone

What the Bebrassie app can really do on the course—beyond „stats for Instagram.” Sixty documented rounds, three years of discipline, and a Strokes Gained workflow that exposes real weaknesses.

SENIOR GOLF · PRAXIS-HUB · STAND JUNE 2026
The App — The Method

What sets the Bebrassie app apart from other tracking tools

Arccos needs 14 sensors on the club. Shot Scope needs tags on each grip. Bebrassie needs: your smartphone. And discipline to manually record every shot.

Sounds like more effort. It is — at first. But: Whoever chooses the racket manually is rethinking what they are doing. This exact moment of reflection is what moves senior golfers forward more than any automatic tracking.

This page is my 3-year balance sheet with Bebrassie — the real Strokes Gained findings from over 60 rounds and the workflow that turns the app into a training tool.

THREE YEARS OF SPACE DATA

What Bebrassie made of my rounds

Three numbers that would never have come to light without this app.

60+
ROUND DOCUMENTED

Every round of the last three years with stroke-by-stroke recording. This not only shows score trends but also allows for comparison of area weaknesses across weeks and courses.

+32%
Fairway hit percentage

FiR score increased from 25 % to 57 % in a single day — Wendlohe C Round on June 12, based on a pre-round cheat sheet using Bebrassie data. Strategic club selection instead of „always using the driver.”.

-2.90
PW THE BIGGEST SCORE KILLER

Only the Strokes Gained evaluation of the Wendlohe round on June 12th revealed the true weakness: not the driver, not putting, but PW approaches from 80-100 meters. I would never have known without Bebrassie.

ON-SITE WORKFLOW

From the first tee to the Strokes Gained analysis — in 5 steps

How Bebrassie works on a 9 or 18 hole round.

01

Pre-Round Setup

Select a location, set the tee box, add players. Important: Manage racket bag in the app — only offer bats that you actually have in stock. Otherwise, you'll click through 18 options for every shot.

02

Per stroke: Choose racket + Mark lie

Before each shot: select club in the app, record GPS position. After the shot: mark ball position on the next position (fairway / rough / bunker / water). The discipline needs 2 weeks of acclimatization. — after that, it transitions into the gameplay.

03

On the green: First putt distance + Number of putts

The first putt distance is the most important putting metric - from this, Bebrassie calculates strokes gained putting. Don't be sloppy here — 7 m is often estimated as 5 m, which distorts the evaluation.

04

After the round — PDF export

Bebrassie generates a detailed PDF report after each completed round: Strokes Gained per area (Tee, Approach, Short Game, Putting), club breakdown, heatmap. Always save this PDF — it is the raw file for any subsequent analysis.

05

Transfer to Master Analysis

From the PDF, I'll take the top numbers into my round Excel: Total Score, Score per Area, FIR percentage, GIR percentage, 3-putt rate, biggest score killer. This way, I'll have not only individual rounds but also the trend across all rounds. Optional: Upload PDF to Claude or ChatGPT for deeper analysis - see AI as an analysis tool.

SIX KEY FIGURES

What senior golfers can glean from Bebrassie reports

SG

Strokes Gained

Mark Broadie's Gold Standard. How many strokes you gain or lose per area vs. scratch baseline. The most important diagnostic metric of the Bebrassie app.

Fire

Fairway in Regulation

Percentage of tee shots that hit the fairway (on par-4 and par-5 holes). Average for senior golfers: 35–45 %. If the percentage remains below 30 % over several rounds, reconsider your driver strategy.

Go

Green in Regulation

Percentage of greens hit within the par target. Senior average: 15–30 %. For those who consistently stay below 15 % here: wedge or iron distance control is the main focus.

3P

3-Putt Rate

Percentage of greens that are missed after 3 or more putts. Senior goal: ≤ 15 %. For me, it was 33 % at Wendlohe — which led to the P5 putter test (4–8 m lag).

%

Scrambling

If you miss the green: how often do you still save par? Senior Tour pros: 55 %; amateur seniors: often under 20 %. A direct indicator of wedge and putting skills under pressure.

Bat heatmap

Bebrassie visually shows which clubs are SG-positive and which are SG-negative. This allows you to see your best and worst bag content at a glance — averaged over all rounds.

THREE REAL WENDLOHE CASES

What Bebrassie data really reveals on the field

Three diagnoses that would have been forgotten without this app.

FALL 01 · WENDLOHE COURSE C, JUNE 12, 2026

How Bebrassie Unmasks the Biggest Score Killer

Top-Line: Gross 51 (+15), SG-Total -2.23 against Scratch.

Bebrassie's Bat Breakdown: PW accumulated -2.90 SG. Driving and putting weren't the problem—the three PW approaches from 80-100m caused almost the entire loss.

Consequence From this, the KW25 training plan was developed with W1 as top priority. Had Bebrassie not done this evaluation, I would have continued to work on the driver – and overlooked the real weakness.

FALL 02 · PRE-ROUND-CHEAT-SHEET WENDLOHE B+C, JUNE 16, 2026

FiR ratio increased from 25 % to 57 % in a single day

Starting point: 16 preliminary rounds with FiR ≤ 30 %. The driver regularly lands in the rough or falls short of the approach shot.

Action A hole-by-hole cheat sheet has been created from all the preliminary Bebrassie data. Per tee shot: recommended club, aiming line, lay-up strategy around bunkers.

Result: FiR rate increased to 57 %. Bebrassie provides the raw material for strategic pre-round planning—a discipline that many senior golfers are completely unfamiliar with.

FALL 03 · HENA WS9 JUNE 17, 2026 — TENNIS ELBOW

Bebrassie as validation of the body-first rule

Situation: First tournament match with the onset of tennis elbow. Gross 112 (+40), 4 penalties, driver dispersion exploded to 23m instead of the usual 8m.

Bebrassie Diagnosis: Not a „bad day,” but a structural deterioration across all areas — Driver SG -5.8, Approach -3.1, Putting -2.4. Physical impairment affects EVERY stroke category.

Teaching From this, the Body-First Rule — no scoring in case of physical impairment. Bebrassie has provided statistical confirmation that „playing through” is the statistically worse choice.

HONEST BOUNDARIES

What Bebrassie CAN'T do

  • Measure carry distance. Bebrassie measures total distance (carry + rollout), not pure carry. For carry, you need the R10.
  • Determine spin values. No impact mechanics data — only what happens after impact.
  • Automatically consider wind and slope complexity. The premium version helps, but doesn't replace the caddie experience.
  • Useless without discipline. If you omit 30 % strokes, you'll get an inaccurate SG analysis.
  • Analyze putting mechanics. Only measures distance and putt count, not the putter path. For putting mechanics: SAM PuttLab or putters with sensors.

Bebrassie doesn't replace a coach. But it does replace the „approximate gut feeling” with which most senior golfers assess their weaknesses.

THE COMPETITION

Bebrassie in Comparison

ARCCOS CADDIE

~ €400 per year (sensors + subscription). Automatic via shaft sensors. Convenient, but: sensors need to be charged, some strike detections are faulty.

SHOT SCOPE V5

~ €280 (watch + tags, no subscription). Tags on every handle, automatic detection. Solid, but UI reports less detailed than Bebrassie.

GARMIN APPROACH G80

~ €450 (GPS + Launch Monitor). Hybrid device. Stronger in the GPS area, weaker in detailed swing analysis.

BEBRASSIE (my conclusion)

Free basic version + affordable premium option. Most detailed SG analysis in the test. Manual effort forces reflection—exactly what helps senior golfers.

Recommendation For those willing to manually log every shot, Bebrassie offers by far the best SG analysis for the lowest price.
THE OTHER HALF OF THE SETUP

Bebrassie is the place. The R10 is the range. Both belong together.

Those who only measure on the course don't know why they fail. Those who only measure on the range don't know how they truly perform on the course. Only together does the full picture emerge.
