TECHNIK · 52° WEDGE
The 52° wedge — the gap wedge in the senior bag.
With a full swing of 65-70 meters and excellent spin characteristics, the 52° wedge bridges the gap between the PW (or 48°) and the 56° wedge. When a 52° is indispensable and which three swing variations will lower your score.
MMy 52° wedge is my „stop club.” For approaches to a tucked pin or a tight fairway, I grab it without thinking. High flight, lots of spin, the ball stays where it lands. With a full swing of 68 meters, it perfectly fills the gap between my 48° wedge (80 meters) and my 56° wedge (55 meters).
The 52° wedge (gap wedge) is the spin specialist in the senior bag for approach shots in the 55-70 meter range. High trajectory, precise distance control, excellent stopping power on firm greens. Three swing variations make it a versatile scoring lever.

Three tips for the 52° wedge
The 52° wedge is a senior golfer's best friend on firm greens. Maximum spin, predictable distance, easy to execute.
— Bob Vokey, Wedge Designer (Titleist)
Three principles for 52° wedge success.
Use spin, don't fear it.
High spin rate makes the ball predictable. On firm greens, this is an advantage—the ball stops where it lands.
Master three distances
Full (68m), Three-Quarter (50m), Half (30m). These three swing variations perfectly cover the most important wedge zone.
Take equipment care seriously
Have grooves checked every 2 years. Buy new ones if worn. Senior wedges without active grooves lose spin and stopping properties.

What the 52° wedge doesn't replace
The 52° is the spin specialist for mid-wedge distances in the senior bag — but it neither replaces the 56° wedge (bunkers, very short pitches) nor the 48° wedge (longer approaches). Three wedges in the bag (48-52-56) are optimal for the most important scoring zone among seniors.
