Hanging layers are where senior mobility and senior balance come together — and where most classic tips fail. Ball over the feet (Club falls to the right for a right-handed player): The classic advice is to grip the club one club shorter and swing accordingly shorter. But: often the senior hip no longer has the lateral stability to keep the swing balanced.
What has proven effective for me is: even more stance width (even at the expense of leg work), knees significantly bent, consciously reduced swing tempo. And: never do the trick with the tilted shaft position—with reduced mobility, the setup simply tips over. Better to use one club shorter and straight on.
How do you guys do that? Setup Customizations for the 4 uphill/downhill lie variations (ball in front of/behind feet, uphill/downhill), and what is your risk limit? I'm particularly interested in hip experiences – when do you say "take the drop" instead of attempting another senior shot?
