DIY Workout Tracker in Excel — the DIY Solution.

bebrassie, Arccos, and Shot Scope are the pro tools — but your own Excel tracker has unbeatable advantages: full flexibility, no subscription, complete data control. How to build a senior golf tracker in Excel and which three tabs are indispensable.

MAn initial Excel tracker was created at 64—before Bebrassie and Arccos. Three tabs: Round KPIs, Drills, Club Calibration. Excel doesn't do anything automatically, but: I retain full control, can incorporate my own calculations, and save all historical data in one file. Apps come and go—Excel data remains.

Custom Excel trackers are a valid alternative to apps in senior golf. Advantages: full data control, no cloud dependency, unlimited customization, no subscription fees. Disadvantages: manual data entry, no automatic tracking. A strong option for senior players with Excel experience and a desire for data control.

Three essential tabs in the Senior Training Tracker

Tab 1 — Round KPIs
One line per round.
Per round, record a line with: Date, Course, Gross Score, Putts, GIR, FIR, Up-and-Down. Optional: Weather, Tee Box, Playing Partner. Over 30+ rounds, this creates a statistically reliable database.
Tab 2 — Drills
✓ THREE-CIRCLE + LONG-DELAY.
Pro Drill-Session: Date, Drill Type (Three-Circle, Long Lag, Wedge Calibration), Quota, Conditions. Trend chart shows progress over time. Senior Motivation Tool.
Tab 3 — Racket Calibration
✓ MEDIAN AND DISPERSION.
Pro Bat: Median Carry, Dispersion, Date of Last Measurement. Bag Map Directly Derivable. Semi-Annual Update. Senior Discipline Tool.

Three tips for a good senior Excel tracker

Tip 1 — Just get started
✓ THREE TABLETS ARE ENOUGH.
First tracker with only three tabs (Rounds, Drills, Clubs). Add complexity only after 1-3 months of experience. Avoid over-complication for seniors.
Tip 2 — Automatic Calculations
✓ AVERAGE, TREND.
Excel Formulas: Average over the last 10 rounds, moving average, year-on-year comparison. One hour of setup, years of automatic evaluation.
Tip 3 — Backup Discipline
✓ MONTHLY CLOUD BACKUP.
Back up the Excel file monthly to the cloud (Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive). Losing data after 5 years of tracking would be devastating. Strict backup discipline is mandatory.

Apps come and go. Excel files stay. For senior golfers tracking data over decades, ownership matters as much as automation.

Three senior Excel advantages.

Full data control

No cloud dependency, no app updates that remove features. Senior sovereignty.

No subscription, no vendor lock-in

Excel is a one-time investment in Office. Apps often require monthly subscriptions. There is a significant cost difference over 10 years.

Unlimited Customization

Your own analyses, your own calculations, your own charts. Bebrassie can only do what it’s capable of. Excel can do everything.

What Excel Tracker doesn't replace

Excel Tracker provides data, but it doesn't replace training or automatic tracking. Senior players with Excel discipline have full control but must manually log every round. Hybrid solution: Bebrassie for automatic logging + Excel for personal analysis.
