DESTINATION · COSTA DEL SOL
Costa del Sol — Spain's Sun Coast for Senior Golfers.
70 golf courses along 150 kilometers of coastline, an average of 300 sunny days, three airports within reach: The Costa del Sol is Europe's number one senior golf destination. What makes it so attractive to senior players – and which five courses are essential.
II've made eight trips to the Costa del Sol in ten years, and each one was different. There isn't „the” Costa del Sol, there are several: the resort-strictness near Marbella, the family-oriented near Estepona, the insider tips near Mijas. Whoever understands this can choose their own region — not the most visited one.
The Costa del Sol is Europe's largest golf destination: 70 courses in close proximity, playable year-round (max. 30°C in summer, 17°C in winter), three airports (Malaga, Gibraltar, Granada). Senior golfers benefit from the wide selection of courses, the established resort infrastructure, and the moderate prices.
Three sub-regions of the Costa del Sol
Five essential spots for senior players
The Costa del Sol is to senior golf what Florida is to American senior golf — an essential destination at some point in every player’s life.

Three senior travel tips for the Costa del Sol.
Choose sub-region consciously
Marbella for premium, Estepona for families, Mijas for value. The sub-region determines the travel characteristics more than the individual course.
Rental Car Requirement
70 parking spaces, not all of which are near the hotel. A rental car for 100–200 € per week is essential. Senior rates at Hertz, Sixt, and AVIS are often 15–25 % cheaper.
March-May + September-October ideal
Avoid peak season surcharges in April and May. March and October offer temperatures of 20–25 °C and more affordable prices.

What the Costa del Sol is not
The Costa del Sol is Europe's most established senior golf destination—but it's not the only one. Those seeking Scottish pilgrimages, Caribbean atmosphere, or absolute tranquility will find them better elsewhere. The Costa del Sol is senior golf's mainstream—loud, crowded, well-organized.
